Now Soliciting 2013 AFA Team & League Membership Applications 

Team Membership applications are now being accepted for the 2013 season. We are proud to have the National Public Safety and Empire Football League and Ironman Football League as the first leagues to join as members to join for 2013.

GBNF - Will Carter Thomas, Jr. AFA Hall of Famer Class of 2003

Will Carter Thomas, Jr. - Will Carter Thomas, Jr., age 66, died 3:32 p.m. Monday, December 12, 2011 at Mt. Carmel West Hospital in Columbus, Ohio. Born June 15, 1945 in Iuka, Mississippi to the late Will Carter and Mable Ethel Brown Thomas Sr. He retired as a Principal at Barrett Middle School in Columbus, Ohio.

 

GBNF - AFA Hall of Fame Class of 1998 Mark Manders Sr.  

Mark E. Manders Sr., 72, passed away on August 9, 2011, of a stroke in Bigfork, Montana. Mark was born on October 22, 1938 in Des Moines, Iowa. He graduated from Theodore Roosevelt High School in January, 1957. Mark went to college at the University of Iowa where he studied engineering and played football for the Iowa Hawkeyes from 1957 to 1960. He was on the 1958 National Champion Team, 1959 Rose Bowl Team and 1960 Big Ten Co-Champion Team. In addition, Mark was named to the 1960 All American Football Team. 

 

GBNF - AFA Hall of Fame Class of 1995 Mike Cline 

John L. "Mike" Cline, 72, of Chicago, died Aug. 25, 2012. The beloved husband of 35 years of Carolyn Cline; brother Patrick (Judy) Cline; uncle of Michelle (Jim) Pahl and Bret (Summer) Cline; brother-in-law of Dr. Peter Yamaji, Mark Golden and Barry (Donna) Yamaji and good friend of Natsuko Kihara. He was a dedicated teacher of statistics, a gifted photographer, a football statistician and a semi-pro football enthusiast. 
 

RAIDERS CELEBRATE NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP SEASON AT TEAM BANQUET 

The Racine Raiders held the annual team banquet on Saturday, February 9, 2012, at Infusino's Banquet Hall in Racine. It was a night of celebration for the over 40 players, dozens of volunteers, board members and coaches that attended along with their spouses and significant others.

Commotio Cordis  - Sudden unexpected cardiac death that occurs in young people during sports participation is usually associated with previously diagnosed or undiagnosed structural or primary electrical cardiac abnormalities. Sudden death due to ventricular fibrillation may also occur when a projectile (eg, baseball, lacrosse ball, hockey puck) strikes the precordium of an individual with no underlying cardiac disease. This is termed commotio cordis (CC).

American Football Association Hall of Fame

We continue to get phone calls and requests from folks confused about membership in the AFA's Hall of Fame. It appears that after 33 years, a few folks are still a bit confused regarding hall of fame membership. As a result, we have edited and published a more readable copy of our inductees from day one at American Football Association Hall of Fame Listing. 

 

Note: The 2013 AFA Hall of Fame Inductions are scheduled to be held June 27th - 28th (same date annually) and at the same location as last year, the Pro Football HoF. Official ballots will go out in April to all 2013 Active AFA Alumni. Nominations will only being accepted on the official ballot and in this timeframe. Sponsorships are now being solicited at Hall of Fame Banquet Sponsorships.
