AFA Benefits' accident plan can fill health insurance gaps
During a recent semipro football game, a football player recently received significant internal injuries and a spinal fracture. An air ambulance quickly transported him to the hospital where he faced many surgeries and a long hospital stay, as well as a long list of expenses not covered by health insurance. However, benefits from his voluntary accident plan – about $34,000 – helped him pay for medical bills and other living expenses.

AFA Benefits' voluntary accident plans, provided through Colonial Life & Accident Insurance, offer football players a variety of benefits for covered accidents that can help pay for what health insurance doesn't. "Players can purchase our new accident plan without answering questions about their health, and the plan is easy to understand."

Policyholders who have a covered accident or sickness can receive a benefits check paid directly to them (unless they specify otherwise) to use as they see fit. Team coaches and owners can also buy coverage for their players, support staff and even their families.

Accident Plan Features and Benefits
• No waiting for health insurance to pay before you can file a claim through the accident plan for benefits.
• Three coverage levels to fit employees' budgets.
• Employee, employee/family or family-only coverage options.
• Wide range of coverage, such as: hospital admissions; emergency treatment in an emergency room, doctor's office and urgent care visits; fractures, dislocations, surgery, rehabilitation unit; X-rays; occupational therapy, medical imaging study; and accidental death and dismemberment.
• Same premium for all employees regardless of job title or management status.
• Other benefits options: choice of accident or accident/sickness disability riders offering total and partial disability benefits, and sickness hospital confinement rider.
• Coverage for people 80 years old and younger.
• Compliant with a health savings account.

For more information about Colonial Life & Accident Insurance's new voluntary accident plan provided by AFA Benefits, Inc. call 877-624-4485 or email AFABenefitsInc@americanfootballassn.com

Bad blood fuels rivalry
Lake Geneva Regional News

Wilson NFL Footballs...We have just been informed by Wilson that they will no longer sell "blem" footballs.............The good news is that we now stock new Wilson Footballs for $15 more per ball. So instead of $50/ball or $300 per case for blems, the price is now $65/ball or $390 per case for new balls. Shipping and handling remains the same at $20............ http://content.oddcast.com/vhss/vhss_v5.swf?doc=http%3A%2F%2Fvhss-d.oddcast.com%2Fphp%2FplayScene%2Facc%3D36976%2Fss%3D690866%2Fsl%3D0&acc=36976&bgcolor=0x&embedid=d42a5dea8a2e9eb03c5f06fc200b1e3f

Smartphone QR Codes
QR codes have been around for a while, and many big corporations use them. In the past six months, though, small companies in the U.S. have flocked to the technology, thanks to services that let them easily create codes. Meanwhile, numerous phones, including many Androids and BlackBerrys, come with an app that reads QR codes. (Others, like the iPhone, must download the software.) Scanbuy Inc., a New York company that develops and manages QR codes, estimates that 30 million people in the U.S. have a code-reader app on their phone.

Stay tuned for more QR codes from the AFA as we rollout raffles, lottery drawings, videos and other interesting info via these codes. By the way, we already have ads with our code in the NY Jets & Giants and Saints Gameday Yearbook Programs.

To test our code, just scan the QR code to the right with your Smartphone. QR Code Lottery Prize give aways to be announced soon!
