Spring league coming to Malden Wicked Local - Nov 9, 2012 A new minor-league football team with Malden ties plans to hit the field this spring, and the team is hosting a combine in Malden this weekend. Participants will be competing for a spot on the newly formed Boston Freedom Fighters, which slated to play its first game in the National Spring Football League this spring. "The Boston Freedom Fighters are a franchise of the National Spring Football League (NSFL), a national, developmental league that will play its first game in March of 2013," said a team release. Monroe County Sting Wins 2012 Empire Football League Championship In their inaugural season with the EFL, the Monroe Counter Sting of Rochester won the 2012 EFL Championship in a 38-22 win over the Plattsburgh North Stars this past Saturday night. The Plattsburgh North Stars (10-3, 9-2) were unable to cut into a 16-point differential, in a game that featured the Sting (10-3, 8-3) getting the better of second-half scoring 30-15....... US Women's National Tackle Football Team USA Football, the governing body for American Rules Football has created a US Women's National Tackle Football Team. The US National Team last competed in Stockholm, Sweden in 2010 against other international women's teams while also capturing the gold medal. At that time, the 2010 team was only available to teams that were members of the IWFL. For this tournament, USA Football has agreed to open its membership to all of women's tackle football leagues as well as any independent women's tackle football clubs. As a result of this announcement, USA Football will conduct tryouts for the Women's National Tackle Football Team between January 25th-27th, 2013 at the University of Texas (Austin, TX).
