AFA Hosts Successful 32nd Annual Semi-Pro Hall of Fame Inductions

Sign2012 Hall of Fame Dinner Program

The Pro Football Hall of Fame in Canton, Ohio was the site for the American Football Association's 32nd  Annual Semi-Pro Hall of Fame Induction Dinner on Friday June 29th. Eighteen individuals representing semi-pro football teams across the country were enshrined as 'legends' of their level.

This year's semi-pro football enshrinement festivities began on Thursday evening with the annual AFA/HOF Alumni Huddle cocktail party. The "Huddle" provided attending HOF Alumni an opportunity to meet the new group of semi-pro football legends before they were inducted. Don Jonas (Class of 1983) and Steve Moser (Class of 1992) provided inspirational accounts of their semipro football careers.

On Friday evening, the Class of 2012 was honored by AFA Alumni, family and friends as they received their commemorative Semi-Pro Hall of Fame recognition plaques. Alumni attendees from the 1980s and 1990s were also honored. Craig Ochoa (Class of '03) served as MC while former teammates and/or family members presented the new inductees to the dinner crowd. Each inductee provided by very sincere and touching testimony about their backgrounds and careers.

The induction dinner event was also viewed by friends, family and fans around the world via live webcast. During the event we received a phone call from the nephew of an inductee in Okinawa, Japan stating that the webcast was coming through load and clear on his end, on an Android device!

The enshrinement of this year's class of 18 new hall of famers saw the 32-year total number of inductees expand from 653 members to 671 members. Since the inaugural enshrinement in 1981 (including the Class of 2010) the AFA has recognized 384 players; 101 coaches; 85 executives; 29 officials; 23 pioneers; 20 media/historians; 13 trainer/equipment men; 6 associated with youth football; 5 involved with international semi-pro; 4 from the women's level; and even 1 'super fan.'

Webcast video of the 2012 Hall of Fame Inductions can be viewed at: http://www.steveweedproductions.com/AFA.htm. Copies of this video can be obtained by contacting 315-782-8383: Office or 315-783-2171: Cell

I might not be able to rely on good behavior to get out so that's why I need your help - I need you to donate to my bail! THE BEST LITTLE QUARTERBACK YOU NEVER HEARD OF

Don Jonas may have been the best football player who never played in the NFL.  Well, make that "never did anything in the NFL" - he was with the Philadelphia Eagles in 1962, but apparently did nothing more than cover kicks.  Anyway, he left no record behind for that season.  http://www.profootballresearchers.org/Coffin_Corner/16-03-566.pdf
